Cavalleria Rusticana preceded by Pastoral Rhapsodies

Postponed to November 2021

We are all eager for Vashon Opera to resume where we last left off with a glorious production of Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, originally planned for May 2020. Our hope and current plan is to present Cavalleria Rusticana on Friday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 7 at 2:30 p.m. in 2021 at the Vashon Center for the Arts. Mark your calendars!

Obviously, the November 2021 plan hinges on all things COVID-19 continuing to wane and life returning to something akin to “normal”, which we fervently hope is the case over the coming months. Note that this is the second time we’ve postponed this production and we will not be presenting Cavalleria Rusticana in May 2021.

Sung in Italian with English Supertitles

As the second half of a unique performanc event, Pietro Mascagni’s gorgeous Cavalleria Rusticana will radiate through the Vashon Center for the Arts. Known for its exquisitely beautiful orchestral intermezzo, Mascagni’s symphonic mastery will shine as Vashon Opera’s acclaimed orchestra performs at stage level amidst the story’s characters and chorus. As a prelude to Cavalleria Rusticana’s dramatic tale, you’ll be serenaded by a sequence of pastoral rhapsodies — masterworks for solo voices and orchestra.

Tickets will be available when they go on sale in mid-to-late summer.
