Mozart manages both lyrical beauty and beguiling music, overflowing with spontaneity, humor and zest. Don Alfonso is a jaded old bachelor who sneers at women, believing them all to be faithless. He is so sure of himself that he places a wager with his two friends, Ferrando and Guglielmo.  These two young men are just as assured that their betrothed, Dorabella and Fiordiligi, are not disloyal, and so eagerly accept Don Alfonso’s bet. It’s an oft told story of disguise and mistaken identity, seduction, foibles and forgiveness, with all the charm of Wolfgang Amadeus at his most playful.
